Abstract:
The influence of eletromagnetic field on lubricating properties of 150SN base oils with T202 or T203 with were studied on a modified four-ball friction and wear tester, the mechanism of eletromagnetic field were discussed based on the analysis results of scanning electron microscope and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results indicate that T202 and T203 could both improve lubricating properties of the base oils with or without eletromagnetic field, which got the best lubricating properties when the mass fractions of additive T202 and T203 were 1.0%-1.5% and 1.5%-2.0%, respectively. The wear scar diameters of steel balls in two base oils containing ZDDPs with eletromagnetic field were smaller than that of steel balls without eletromagnetic field, which also presented the shallower furrow and slighter scratch on the surface of the wear scars. The lubricating properties of base oils containing ZDDPs under electromagnetic field were improved, which attributed to that the electromagnetic field promoted the formation of friction chemical reaction film and the modification on surface of friction pairs (Zn-Fe alloy formation).
