Abstract:
Resistance spot welding tests for TRIP600 steel with silicon contents of 1.17wt.% and 0.56wt.%, respectively, were carried out to study the effects of silicon content on spot welding joint quality and sheering property of TRIP600 steel. Results show that when welding current was 4 000-9 000 A, electrode pressure was 3 430-4 410 N, the TRIP600 steel joint with high silicon content had smaller grains, more uniform microstructure, higher martensite content and better shear strength than that with low silicon content. The TRIP steel with low silicon content was easily adhered during spot welding.
