Abstract:
The microstructure and mechanical properties of the Al-5.0Cu-0.6Mn-1.0Fe-1.0Ni alloy prepared by gravity die casting and squeeze casting after T7 heat treatment were comparative studied by tensile testing machine, optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that pores and needle-like β-Fe (Al7Cu2Fe) phases in the alloy prepared by squeeze casting decreased obviously and the block-like Al9FeNi phase became smaller and more dispersive, compared to the alloy prepared by gravity die casting. The tensile strength, yield strength and elongation at 200 ℃ of the alloy prepared by squeeze casting increased by 3.8%, 10.8% and 118.5%, respectively, as compared with the alloy prepared by gravity die casting.
