Abstract:
WC-10Co4Cr and WC-14Co coatings were prepared using activated combustion high velocity air fuel (AC-HVAF) spraying technology on 7075 high strength aluminum alloy substrate. The microstructure, corrosion resistance and corrosion morphology were investigated by means of SEM,EDS,XRD,electrochemical testing and neutral salt spray testing. The results show that WC coatings presented no obvious decarburization. The coatings were dense and the porosity was below 1%.The binding with the substrate was fairly good. The corrosion potential of the 7075 Al alloy substrate metal was increased obviously by the coating and increased further when Cr was added in the bonded phase.WC-10Co4Cr coating exhibited better corrosion resistance than WC-14Co coating in neutral salt spray for 600 h.
