Abstract:
Ca-α/β-Sialon bonded corundum composites were fabricated by nitridation at 1 500 ℃ with Si,Al,CaCO3 powders and corundum powders and particles as main raw materials and Y2O3 as additive. The effects of Sialon content on mechanical properties for the Ca-α/β-Sialon bonded corundum composite were also studied. The results show that when the Sialon content increased, the bulk density of the Ca-α/β-Sialon bonded corundum composite decreased, the porosity and room temperature modulus of rupture (MOR) of the composites increased. Moreover, the MOR of the composite first increased and then declined with an increase of temperature, which got the highest value at 1 000 ℃.
