Abstract:
The friction and wear properties of squeeze cast 5%Ti-Al2O3p/45 steel matrix composite and Al2O3p/45 steel matrix composite at different rotate speeds and pressures were studied. The results show that the wear loss of the two kinds of composites all increase with the increase of rotate speed and pressure, and the wear loss the the former is lower, because Ti particles on Al2O3 particles surface forming TiC coating layer, which enhance the interface bonding between Al2O3 particles and the matrix,as well as the wear resistance of the composite. The friction coefficients of the two kinds of composites,at the range of 0.58 and 0.92,are almost same and they all decrease with the increase of rotate speed and pressure.
