Abstract:
Pure copper sheets were subjected to groove pressing treat at two dies with different groove widths at room temperature. The effects of the dies with different groove widths on the groove pressing passes that the pure copper could bear, grain size and mechanical properties were examined, and the last two factors changing with the groove pressing passes was studied. The results show that the groove pressing was an effective way in refining the grains of the pure copper. When the specimen deformed at the die design with the smaller groove width, there were finer size of the grains and larger speed of the grain refinement. All the pure copper groove pressing treated at different dies had a remarkable impact on strength and hardness, but there was no significant effect in strength and hardness obtained under the die design conditions with different groove widths. The lager groove width could increase the groove pressing passes the pure copper bore. When the specimen deformed at the die design with the smaller groove width, the hardness was much higher and the yield strength and elongation were a little lower.
