Abstract:
Micro-textures were made by laser on the rake face of carbide tool, and solid lubricant was embedded into the micro-texture to form self-lubricating micro-texture tool.Dry cutting experiments in machining 0Cr18Ni9 austenitic stainless steel were carried out with self-lubricating micro-texture tool,micro-texture tool and conventional carbide tool, and the cutting performances of the three kinds of tools were compared. Results show that compared with the conventional tool,self-lubricating micro-texture tools had greatly improvement on the cutting performance(main cutting force reducing about 8%-16% and the cutting temperature reducing about 15%-24%),the chips coiling increased and the adhesive of chip and wear of rank face reduced.
