Abstract:
A preparation process for high quality water-based surface slurry for titanium alloy investment casting shell was developed and the effects of ratio of powder to liquid, preparation order, stirring speed on the properties of slurry and shell were studied. The result shows that the best overall performance of slurry and shell, viscosity of slurry in 30-35 s, surface roughness less than 2.0 μm and bending strength around 4.0 MPa, were given when the ratio of powder to liquid was controlled between 5.0 to 5.5 g·mL-1, stirring speed was in 40-50 r·min-1 with the preparation order of zirconium sol, additive, ZrO2 powder.
