Abstract:
The friction and wear properties of the polyimide composites filled with PTFE and MoS2 sliding against 45 steel,nickel-chromium alloy, copper and aluminium under dry sliding friction condition were studied by using an MPX-2000 wear tester. The worn surfaces of the composites and counterparts were observed by using SEM and optical microscope. The results show that the friction coefficient and wear rate of the composites coupled with Al were the lowest, which were only 43% and 49% of steel respectively.A uniform and continuous transfer film was formed on the Al surface after sliding. The transfer films formed on the 45 steel,nickel-chromium alloy and copper surface were not effective enough, resulting in the increase of the friction coefficient of composites. The wear mechanism of the composites against different metals was adhesive and fatigue wear.
