    Shape Control and Microstructure of Spray Deposited Billets of 2A12 Aluminum Alloy

    • The deposited billets of 2A12 aluminum alloy using two self-developed flow controllers (two-roller and four-roller), and the shapes and microstructure of deposited billets were observed to get the most suitable process. The results show that a deposited billet in narrow width about 20 mm and showing obvious Gaussian distribution on the cross-section was achieved using four-roller flow controller. The deposited billet satisfied the size matching between spray deposition and continuous extrusion. The grains of deposited billets were spherical and decreased in grain size compared to free spray. The most suitable atomizing gas pressure was 0.3 MPa in deposition process using four-roller flow controller.
