Furnace Brazing Process for ZK60 Magnesium Alloy

    • The high purity zinc foil solder was adopted to weld ZK60 magnesium alloy in vacuum furnace brazing under different conditions. And the microstructure, micro-hardness of brazed joints and phase composition of brazing seam were studied by scanning electron microscopy, hardness testing and XRD analysis. The results show that brazing temperature and hold time had obvious influence on the microstructure and properties of brazed joints. The brazed joint with good quality could be obtained at temperature of 445 ℃ and holding time of 45 s, there were no pores, cracks on the brazing seam, and the micro-hardness was high. The microstructure of brazing seam was fine, uniform, and the phase compositions were α-Mg and γ-MgZn.
