Effects of Wet Drawn Speed on Property of 0.92wt.%C Brass-Plated Steel Wire Used for Steel Cord
-
Abstract
The 0.92wt.%C brass-plated steel wire with diameter of 1.80 mm was drawn at different drawing speeds under the same wet drawing conditions. The properties of the obtained filaments with diameter of 0.3 mm were studied by torsion & delamination test and Hunter-type fatigue test. The results showed that filament delamination occurred when the wet drawing speed exceeded 13 m·s-1. With the increase of wet drawn speed, the torsion value and Hunter-type fatigue limit dropped. The temperature of steel wire rose as the wet drawing speed increased, resulting in cementite dissolution, which is the main reason for property degradation of the filament.
