Influence of Pile Structure on Compressive Properties of Three Dimension Hollow Sandwich Composite

    • Three dimension hollow sandwich composite (3D composite) with pile height of 2, 4, 6, 8 mm, and pile distance (in inverse proportion of density) of 4, 6 mm and 8 mm were prepared, and then flatwise compression and side compression experiments were carried out on the composite. The influences of pile height and density on compressive property of the composite were studied. The results indicate that the flatwise compressive strength of the composites decreased with the increase of pile height, and increased with the increase of pile density. The side compressive strength of the composite increased with the increase of pile height and pile density, and side compressive strength in weft direction was higher than that in warp direction.
