Bird-Impact Resistance of GLARE Laminate Composite with Different Ply Angles

    • Two finite element models for simple planes and tailplane front structures of GLARE laminate composite with three kinds of ply angles were built by the nonlinear dynamics software PAM-CRASH, and then bird impact finite element simulation was carried out on the simple planes and structures by the software. The bird impact resistance of GLARE laminate composite with different ply angles was studied, and experiment verification was carried out. The results show that, for the laminate composite with same thickness, the plane and the structure with cross-ply structure ±45° had the best absorption energy effect and bird-impact resistance, and followed by the planes and the structures with 0°/90° and 0°/45°/-45°/90°. The destruction pattern, destruction area and strain-time curve of a point near the impact location got from experiment were consistent with those got from simulation, indictating that the finite element model is correct.
