Abstract
1Cr17Ni2 stainless steel was quenched and tempered at different temperatures, and then the relationships between the impact property of the V-notch specimen and the quenching and tempering temperatures were investigated. The optimum heat treatment process was determined based on the impact properties of the V-notch specimen and the tensile properties of the tested steel after heat treatment with the optimum process were measured. The results show that the impact absorption energies of V-notch specimens increased with the increasing quenching and tempering temperatures. The effect of tempering temperature on the fracture mode was greater than that of the quenching temperature. With the increase of tempering temperature, the fracture mode changed from brittle fracture by intergranular and cleavage to toughness fracture by dimple. The 1Cr17Ni2 stainless steel can meet the requirements of the impact toughness and strength of stud at the quenching temperature of 980 ℃ or 1 020 ℃ and the tempering temperature higher than 650 ℃. If a twice tempering was necessary, then the twice tempering temperature higher than 650 ℃ was recommended.
