Effect of Nickel Addition Amount on Microstructure and Properties of Manganese Zinc Ferrite

    • With carbonyl nickel powder and manganese zinc ferrite powder as raw materials, manganese zinc ferrite was prepared by vacuum sintering at different temperatures (1 320, 1 360, 1 380 ℃), and the effects of added nickel mass fraction (0, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%) on the microstructure, mechanical properties, electrical properties and magnetic properties of manganese zinc ferrite were investigated. The results show that adding nickel did not alter the spinel structure of the manganese zinc ferrite. When the mass fraction of nickel was greater than 2%, there were Fe2O3 phase and some incomplete solid solution nickel in manganese zinc ferrite. With the increase of nickel addition amount, the number of pores in manganese zinc ferrite decreased and crystal structure became denser. With increasing sintering temperature, the density of manganese zinc ferrite with different amounts of nickel increased first and then decreased, and the flexural strength increased slightly and then decreased. The manganese zinc ferrite sintered at 1 360 ℃ had the highest density and relatively good mechanical properties. With the increase of nickel addition amount, the density, flexural strength, saturation magnetization, initial permeability, saturation magnetic induction, conductivity and Curie temperature of manganese zinc ferrite increased, indicating the increase of mechanical, electrical, and magnetic properties.
