    Probe into Strength Predication Formula of Short Al2O3 Fiber/Al Matrix Composites

    • The tensile strength of different Al2O3(sf)/Al matrix composites was determined.The microscopical fracture procedure was observed using a dynamic tensile device in SEM.According to these experimental results and finite element method calculated result,strength predication formula was modified.The results of tests show that the prevalent strength predication formula can only be used in the composites whose fracture is caused by fiber fracture.The orientation factor should be 0.49.
