Properties and Application of WC Coating Prepared by High Velocity Air Fuel

  • The properties,including wear resistance,corrosion resistance,fracture toughness and bond strength of WC coating prepared by high velocity air fuel (HVAF) were investigated.And its properties and service life were compared with those of electroplated hard chromium coating.The results indicate that HVAF sprayed WC coating displayed 10 times more wear resistance than that of electroplated hard chromium coating and it exhibited better corrosion resistance and fracture toughness than electroplated hard chromium coating.By taking corrugated roll as an example,it was feasible to obtain uniform coating thickness by using up-center-down spray method,while it was beneficial to ensure high bond strength by controlling spray angle larger than 60° and substrate hardness lower than 60 HRC.The service life of WC coated corrugated roll was 4-6 times of that of hard chromium electroplated corrugated roll.
