Tribological Properties of Rape Seed Oil with Phosphorus-Free Triazine Derivative as Additive
-
Abstract
A phosphorus-free triazine derivative was synthesized. The tribological properties of the natural rape seed oil with the derivative as additive and the one after esterification were investigated by using four-ball tribological tester. The worn surface morphology of the balls and chemical reaction products were analyzed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the synthesized triazine derivative could effectively improve the extreme pressure capacity of the natural rape seed oil and esterification rape seed oil by 80% and 30%, respectively. The friction-reducing effect of the additive was unobvious in the rape seed oil before esterification, and it could effectively improve friction-reducing and antiwear capacities of the esterification rape seed oil. The triazine derivative took tribochemical reaction with the ball surface, then mixed boundary lubricating film which containing FeS and FeSO4 was formed, which played a role in friction-reducing and antiwear.
