    Effect of In-situ SiC Particle on Room-temperature Fracture Toughness of SiCP/MoSi2

    • MoSi2 and SiCP/MoSi2 composites reinforced with different volume fractions of in-situ SiC particles were fabricated by means of in-situ reaction and hot press synthesis after wet mixing pure powders of Mo,Si and C.The effects of in-situ SiC particles on room-temperature fracture toughness of the composites were investigated.The room-temperature fracture toughness of the SiCP/MoSi2 composite increases,and the in-situ SiC particles refine the MoSi2 grains and eliminates the brittle SiO2 glass,resulting in crack deflection and bridging during the crack extension.
