Preparation and Grinding Performance of A New Diamond Abrasive Brick with Ceramic-Metal Binder
-
Abstract
A new kind of diamond abrasive brick with ceramic-metal binder was designed and prepared. The porosity, bulk density and mechanical properties were tested, and comparative tests of grinding SiC reinforced high silicon aluminum alloy composite materials by new diamond abrasive brick with ceramic-metal binder and diamond abrasive brick with ceramic composite binder were carried out under the same conditions. The results show that in abrasive brick with ceramic-metal composite binder, binders have strong holding force on diamond particles. The flexural strength and hardness of the abrasive brick with ceramic-metal binder reached 66.02 MPa and 74.6 HRB. The surface of the SiC reinforced high silicon aluminum alloy composite grinded by diamond abrasive brick with ceramic-metal binder was better than that of grinded by diamond abrasive brick with ceramic binder, and the processing efficiency of the former was higher than the later. When surface roughness of the workpiece was 0.3 μm, the material removal rate of abrasive brick with ceramic-metal binder was twice as much as that of abrasive brick with ceramic binder. The problem of SiC reinforced high silicon aluminum alloy composites difficult to machine can be solved.
