Properties of Carbon Fiber Reinforced PF Resin/Graphite Composite Bipolar Plate

Abstract
The influences of carbon fiber surface treatment and content on mechanical and conducting properties of carbon fiber reinforced PF resin/graphite composite were studied.Gas-phase oxidation treatment resulted in distribution of some micro-pores and ditches at the carbon fiber surface and led to stress concentration therefore, the composite strength was not high.Gas-phase plus liquid-phase oxidation treatment resulted in filling up of micro-pores at the carbon fiber surface and thus reinforced the composite.Liquid-phase oxidation treatment improved the carbon fiber surface activity and uniformly and thus the composite showed better mechanical and conducting property. As carbon fiber content increased, the conducting property decreased;the composite strength increased at first, then falled down. When carbon fiber was liquid-phase oxidation treated and its content was 3%-4%,the composite had the best mechanical and conducting properties.
