    Preparation of Mg-Al-Sr-Ca Alloy by a New Technology of Molten Salt Electrolysis

    • In order to solve the problems in Mg-Sr alloy preparation using direct reaction method,Mg-6Al-02Sr-0.2Ca alloy was prepared by molten salt electrolysis with SrCl2 and CaCl2 as the electrolyte and Mg-Al melting alloys as anode.The effects of the mixture ratio of molten salts,electrolysis temperature and electrolytic voltage on the electrolysis process were studied,and the suitable electrolysis parameters were recommended.The content,microstructure,phases,precipitation and transmisssion process of the alloys were analyzed.The results show that electrolyzing SrCl2 and CaCl2 in Mg-Al alloy melt could generate Mg-Al-Sr-Ca alloy directly.Equal molar ratio of SrCl2 and CaCl2 molten salt had favorable capability for electrolysis and could be electrolyzed at 750 ℃ and 4 V.Sr and Ca enriched in the form of Al4Sr and Al2Ca in lath-like microstructure of matrix boundaries.
