    Measuring Internal Residual Stresses in Aluminum Alloy Friction Stir Welded Joint by Short Wavelength X-ray

    • The internal residual stress distribution in 2024-T351 aluminum alloy friction stir welded joint was measured using the independently developed short wavelength X-ray stress analyzer.The results show that the longitudinal residual stress was in typical “M” shape distribution and higher than that in the transverse direction.It was found that the peak stress was located near the interface between the thermomechanically affected zone and the heat affected zone,and the results agreed with those from references.
