Nanocrystalline FeNbVB Powder Prepared by Mechanical Alloying

  • Nanocrystalline Fe84Nb3V4B9 powders were prepared by mechanical alloying.The morphology,structure and thermal stability were studied by SEM observation,XRD analysis and heat treatment.The average grain size of α-Fe phase in Fe84Nb3V4B9 powders milled for 96h was about 10 nm.The nanocrystals exhibited good thermostability,and grew slowly during low-temperature annealing at 100-350℃.The V addition could improve powder uniformity,refine crystals,promote alloying process and enhance thermal stability of the alloy phase,suggesting that the replacement of V for Nb is beneficial to development of FeMB nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials.
