Galvanic Corrosion of Couples of Graphite Epoxy Composite Materials and TC16 Alloys with Different Surface State
-
Abstract
The electrochemical polarization and open circuit potential of graphite epoxy composite material(GECM)were studied, as well as the galvanic corrosion of couples of graphite epoxy composite material(GECM) and the titanium alloy TC16 after different surface treatment (impulse anodization, aluminized passivation and no-treatment). The results show that the open circuit potential of the GECM was positive and stable, and decreased slowly with polarization time. The galvanic couple with TC16 after impulse anodized treatment displayed the smallest average galvanic corrosion current density of 0.003 μA·cm-2, followed by 0.024 μA·cm-2 when galvanic couple with TC16 without treatment, and the maximum of 6.270 μA·cm-2 were obtained when galvanic couple with TC16 after aluminized passivation. It was shown that impulse anodization of TC16 could effectively reduced or even eliminated the galvanic corrosion between the GECM and the titanium alloy TC16.
