Abstract
A series of high manganese steel electrodes with different WC contents and particles were self-prepared and high manganese steel surfacing layer was obtained by flame surfacing, and the effects of the WC contents and size on microstructure and wear resistance of surfacing layer were studied by optical microstructure analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis and wear resistance testing. The results show that the WC particles were well combined to the substrate and the microstructure was austenitic dendrite and ledeburite eutectic carbide. The microstructure changed from austenite isometric crystal to dendritic crystal, and the interdendritic alloy carbide and eutectic microstructure increased with the increase of WC content. Comparing with big size WC particle, the effect of small size WC particle had bigger effect on the microstructure of surfacing layer. The WC particles dramatically enhanced the wear resistance of high manganese steel surfacing layer.
