Effect of Powder Particle Size in Metal Cored Flux-Cored Wire on Quantity of Welding Fume and Arc Stability

    • Effects of fume chemical composition and powder particle size in 1.6 mm metal cored flux-cored wire on quantity of welding fume and arc stability were investigated by collector of welding fume,Hannover arc physical characteristics analyzer and fluorescence analyzer. The results show that the main components in welding fume were metal, and nonmetal oxides, and the total amount of iron oxide and manganese oxide was more than 90%.When powder particle size was between 120 μm and 380 μm,with the increase of powder particle size quantity of welding fume decreased, and arc stability became better. The quantity of welding fume was mininum and arc stability was the best when the powder particle size was between 120 μm and 150 μm.
