Preparation of Ultrafine Copper Powders by Two-step Chemical Reduction Method

    • A two-step reduction method was used to produce fine copper powders with copper sulfate as raw material, glucose as prereductant and vitamine C as reductant. The fine copper powders produced under the conditions of different technical parameters was characterized by laser granularity instrument,SEM,and XRD.The results show that the optimized preparation technique was prereduction time of 90 min,Cu2+ concentration of 0.2 mol·L-1,reduction temperature of 80 ℃,solution pH of 14,the glucose concentration of 0.05 mol·L-1,vitamine C concentration of 0.025 mol·L-1.The average copper powders particle size was roughly 8 μm with a narrow distribution of particle size. The morphology of copper powders showed that the copper particles were well crystallized cubes, cylinders or spheroids that were homo-growed in every direction.Pure copper powders were got after the products were dryed at low temperature,no signs of Cu2O and CuO characteristic peaks appeared.
