Tribological Properties of Al-Pb Wear Resistant Alloy with Different Compositions Prepared by Sloping Plate Casting Technology

Abstract
Al-Pb alloy was synthesized by sloping plate casting technology.Observation and analysis of the worn surface morphology and composition were carried out by using scanning electron microscopy. The basic characteristics of the alloy and effects of different alloying elements on tribological properties were researched.Wear mechanism of mutual friction between the Al-Pb alloy and 45 steel under dry friction condition was discussed. The results show that accession of lead and tin as the soft phases, compared with the aluminum alloy based phase, made the friction coefficient of the Al-Pb alloy reduce by 15%,wear loss reduce by nearly 70%.The friction coefficient and weightlessness decreased first and then increased with increasing the tin concerntration. The Al-Pb alloy had excellent tribological properties and its wear forms were compound wear of abrasive wear, adhesive wear and fatigue wear.
