Finite Element Analysis of Tensile Properties of Carbon Fiber Laminate Composites

    • The finite element software Abaqus was used to model carbon fiber reinforced laminates with two kinds of laying structure, [0°]8 and [0°/45°/90°/-45°]S. The simulated stress-stain curves of the laminates in tensile process were compared with experimental results. Meanwhile, the interfacial mechanical properties and failure mode under tensile load based on cohesive element were simulated. The results indicate that the simulated stress-stain curves were in accordance with the experimental results. And the [0°/45°/90°/-45°]S laminate presented obvious interfacial damage of delamination because of different fiber directions of laying, but it was not clear in the [0°]8 laminate.
