Influence of Sintering Pressure on Tribological Property of Cu-Based Powder Metallurgy Material for Brake

    • Cu-based powder metallurgy material for brake was prepared at different sintering pressures. The influences of sintering pressure on the porosity and hardness of the material were studied. The tribological behavior of brake material against 15CrMo steel was investigated using high speed friction and wear testing machine. The microstructure and worn surface of the material were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results indicate that when the sintering pressure increased from 0 MPa to 1.25 MPa, the porosity of the sample reduced, but hardness increased; and the friction coefficient and wear rate all reduced. Increasing sintering pressure had no evident effect on the porosity and tribological properties when sintering pressure was above 1.25 MPa.
