    Effect of Electric Magnetic Stirring on Solidified Microstructure and Hardness of Cu-6%Ag Alloy

    • The effects of electric magnetic stirring (EMS) on solidified microstructure and hardness of Cu-6%Ag alloy were studied by microstructure observation and hardness testing. The results show that, after applying EMS, grains of Cu-6%Ag alloy were refined, primary Cu dendrite became shorter and coarser, and eutectic microstructure became thinner and exhibited net shape. The mass fraction of Ag in Cu dendrite decreased and the hardness of Cu dendrite increased from 82 HV to 88 HV.
