Influence of SiC Concentration in Slurry on Microscale Abrasive Wear of TZNT Titanium Alloys

    • Microscale abrasive wear of TZNT titanium alloys was analyzed using a TE66 abrasion tester. The wear scar diameter was measured using a 15JE microscope. The influence of SiC concentration in slurry (0.05-025 g·cm-3) on wear volume was investigated.Microabrasion mechanism maps for TZNT titanium alloys were also constructed. The results showed that the wear volume increased with the increase of SiC concentration in slurry.Under the same conditions, the wear volume of TZNT titanium alloys in Hanks solution was less than that in distilled water. With the increase of SiC concentration, microabrasion mechanism of TZNT titanium alloys transformed from two-body abrasion to mixed abrasion and three-body abrasion.
