Failure Analysis of Cracking of a Cycle Pump Vane Made of Low Carbon High Chromium Cast Iron

Abstract
The chemical composition,microstructure,fracture morphology and failure mechanism of cracking of a cycle pump vane made of low carbon high chromium cast iron were analyzed by means of SEM,EDS and optical microscopy.The results show that under the stated aciditic condition,selective corrosion between phases happened at the vane surface,and the impact-resistance dropped.The relatively low toughness of this material also resulted in anearly cracking of the vane.
