Mechanical Properties of Ramie Reinforced Epoxy Resin Composite
-
Abstract
The ramie reinforced epoxy resin composites were prepared by using raw ramie and raw ramie treated by alkali as reinforced material and KH550 as coupling agent. The effects of the contents of coupling agent and fiber on mechanical properties of the composite were studied and the tensile fracture was observed. The results show that the mechanical properties of raw ramie/epoxy resin composite was best when the mass fraction of fiber was 50% and the usage amount of coupling agent was 2wt%, and the tensile strength was 172.9 MPa and the flexural strength reached 365.4 MPa. The best tensile strength of raw ramie treated by alkali/epoxy resin composite was obtained, and the tensile strength was 117.3 MPa when the mass fraction of fiber was 50% and the usage amount of coupling agent was 3wt%. The best flexural strength of raw ramie treated by alkali/epoxy resin composite was obtained when the mass fraction of fiber was 40% and the usage amount of coupling agent was 3wt%, and the flexural strength reached 293.2 MPa.
