    Synthesis of Al Foams with Al Powder for Increasing Viscosity

    • Foamed aluminum with homogeneous structure and high porosity was prepared by using melt-foaming technique,and the influence of the concentration of aluminum powder,foaming agent,mixing time and foaming time on the porosity and pore structure was investigated.The foamed aluminum alloy (AlSi7Mg0.45) with homogeneous structure and a porosity of about 75% was obtained under the following conditions:5wt% aluminum powder,stirring time 7 min,1.5wt% TiH2,foaming time 5 min.The mechanism for increasing the viscosity of the melt aluminum and stabilizing the liquid foam by adding the aluminum powder is discussed.
