Supper Elasticity and Shape Memory Properties of Cu-Al-Ni Alloys Prepared by Ohno Continuous Casting Process

Abstract
Shape memory and supper elasticity properties of the Cu-Al-Ni alloys prepared by ohno continuous casting process were tested after different heat treatment,and the mechanisms were analyzed.The results show that the supper elasticity property of the alloy was up to 13.3%-20% which was much higher than that of the traditional nitinol,and the shape memory property was increased remarkably too.Crystal orientation of the alloy was in accordance with the stress direction because of its columnar crystals microstructure,so there was no grain boundaries vertical to the stress direction and intercrystalline cracking was difficult.During the supper elasticity deformation process,stress-induced martensite transformation happened,which made the crystal flew to the favorable orientation of the stress to get quasi-single crystal with higher plasticity.
