    Effect of TiB And TiC on Microstructure and Tensile Property of TiAl Based Intermetallic Compound

    • TiB and carbon powders were added in the TiAl based intermetallic compound to produce TiB and TiC at original place. The effects of addition of TiB and TiC on the microstructure and tensile properties of TiAl based intermetallic compound were also investigated. The results show that TiAl based intermetallic compound with TiC and TiB phases appearing in the microstructure exhibited finer microstructure than TiAl based intermetallic compound with only TiB phase existing. The TiC phase could change the morphology of β phase in TiAl from coarse dentrite to dispersed ribbon and block shape. Blocky γ phase forming in annealing improved ductility, and keep the strength at high temperature.
