Blood Compatibility and Corrosion Resistance Nb Permeated Layer on Pure Titanium Surface
-
Abstract
The Ti-Nb alloy layer was formed through Nb permeation into pure titanium surface by using double glow plasma metal permeation method. The cross section morphology and phase compsition of the layer were investigated by scanning electronic microscopy and X-ray diffraction.Through determination of dynamic clotting time and anodic polarization curves, the blood compatibility and corrosion resistance of the pure titanium before and after Nb permeation were compared. The results indicate that the gradient distributed and compact Nb-Ti alloy layer which connected firmly with the substrate could be obtained on the pure titanium surface after Nb permeation. As compared with pure Ti,the anticoagulant time of the alloy layer was prolongated, the free corrosion potential increased and the free corrosion current density decreased, that led to the increase of the blood compatibility and corrosion resistance of the pure titanium surface.
