Evolvement of Microstructure & Properties for 1060 Al during Accumulative Roll Bonding Process
-
Abstract
1060 Al was deformed by accumulated rolling bonding (ARB) technology at room temperature. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the 1060 Al both of non-deformed and after different pass ARB were observed and analyzed by TEM,optical microscopy and tensile testing. The ultra-fined grains are found and the grain size is less than 1 μm after the ARB process. After seven cycles of ARB,the ultra-fined structure with on average grain size of 520 nm is obtained. With the increase of rolling pass, the strength go up and get the top value of 197 MPa at the forth pass and then go down slightly.Similarly, the hardness is enhanced with the increase of deformation cycles, but it changes gently after ARB 4 cycles. The elongation ratio decrease rapidly from 23% to 9% during the former three cycles of ARB.Then, the elongation ratio returnes to go up with the increase of rolling pass, and it reaches 16% after ARB 7 cycles.
