Abstract

The causes of cavity defect in Q235B hot-rolled plate produced in one iron and steel company were analyzed by metallographic analysis. The results show that the cavity defects formed in high temperature rolling process because of serious sulphur segregation which generated a lot inclusions of (Fe, Mn)S with low melting point in the continous casting slab.
