    Tribological Behavior of the 40Cr Surface Modified by Low Temperature Gas Multi-element Penetration

    • The modified layer on the surface of 40Cr was prepared by low temperature gas multi-element penetration technique.The microstructure and phase of the penetrateded layer were examined by SEM and XRD.The friction and wear behavior of the modified layer under dry sliding against GCr15 steel was evaluated on a ball-on-disc test rig.The modified layer was composed of a loose layer,a bright layer and a transition layer.The surface hardness of 40Cr was improved,the microhardness of the surface was about 850 HV.The anti-wear property of 40Cr was enhanced notably.
