    Microstructure and Erosion Resistance of Nanostructured Al2O3-13%TiO2 Ceramic Coatings Fabricated by Plasma Spraying

    • The conventional and nanostructured Al2O3-13%TiO2 ceramic coatings were prepared by plasma spraying.The microstructure of the coatings was examined by SEM and the erosion resistance of the coatings was tested.The results show that the conventional coating had a typical flake structure.However,the nanostructured coating exhibited unconspicuous flake structure with less microcracks.The microstructure change of nanostructured coating improved the toughness and bond strength.During the erosion process the conventional coating surface flaked away heavier.The erosion resistance of nanostructured ceramic coating was increased by 30% than that of conventional coating and the mass loss was less than that of the conventional coating.
