Effect of Sintering Temperature on Microstructure and Properties of WC Steel-bonded Cemented Carbide/Carbon Steel Composite Layer
-
Abstract
WC steel-bonded cemented carbide powders being compacted by explosive compaction were bonded to the surface of carbon steel using liquid phase sintering. The microstructure of the samples and the shear strength between steel-bonded cemented carbide cladding and carbon steel substrate at different sintering temperatures were studied. The results showe that the thickness of the transition layer and the shear strength of the interface increase with the increase of the sintering temperature. At the optimal sintering temperature (1 350 ℃),the thickness of the transition layer is about 38 μm and the shear strength of the sample is 106 MPa,elements diffused in the interface and the structure of the cladding layer is WC,Fe3W3C,ferrite,the structure of the transition layer is pearlite.A metallurgical bonding with high bonding strength is produced between WC steel-bonded cemented carbide and carbide steel.
