FEM Simulation of Forging Penetration Efficiency of Radial Forging in 3D

Abstract
The process of the radial forging with the finite software DEFORM 3D was simulates according to both the principle of radial forging and the technology parameters for forging the billet which diameter was from 480 to 240 millimeters with GFM machine universal hammer anel explore the forging penetration efficiency by the strain-effective and the stress state in the billet.Based on the simulation,the new result of the forging penetration efficiency shows that the billet which diameter form 480 to 240 millimeters can be completely forged with universal hammer in the radial forming as well as the forging penetration efficiency is increasing with the draft in the first pass but decreasing with the drawing velocity.
