Effect of Rare Earth Element Er on Corrosion Resistance of Ni58Ta36Sn6 Amorphous Alloy

Abstract
The(Ni58Ta36Sn6)100-xErx(x=0,1,2,3 at%) amorphous ribbons were prepared by single-roller melt-spinning technique.The corrosion resistance of the ribbons with different Er contents in several corrosive solutions of acid,alkali and salt was studied by weight loss measurement and potentiodynamic polarization method at room temperature.The results show that the alloy containing 2 at% Er exhibited the lowest corrosion rate in HCl,H2SO4 and NaOH solutions,while the alloy containing 1 at% Er exhibited the lowest corrosion rate in HNO3 solution.The corrosion rate in NaCl solution increased with the increase of the content of Er.
