    Preparation and Properties of Stainless Steel/Carbon Fiber Reinforced PEEK Friction Material

    • The mixture ratio of a semi-metallic stainless steel/carbon fiber reinforced polyetheretherketon (PEEK)-based friction material and the influence of molding process on abrasion performance were studied.The abrasion mechanism was analyzed.The process of preparing friction material was molding at 320 ℃ and pressure 35 MPa for 3 min/mm,then post-curing at 80 ℃×30 min+150 ℃×30 min+270 ℃×30 min+320 ℃×180 min.The best formulation is PEEK 19.63%,stainless steel fiber 7.57%,carbon fiber 10.97%,cashew 6.51% and fillers 55.33%.The developed material has steady friction coefficient and low abrasion value.The wear mechanism is particle abrasion at low temperature but adherence abrasion as well as particle abrasion at higher temperature.
