Tribological Properties in PTFE-filled and Bentonite-reinforced PPS Composites

    • Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)-filled and bentonite-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide(PPS) composites were prepared by compression molding. The behaviors of PPS materials and the synergism as a result of the incorporation of both the PTFE and the bentonite were investigated.Friction and wear tests were carried out in a reciprocating sliding tribometer. Results show that the addition of PTFE only led to reducing a friction coefficient and specific wear rate of the PPS.The tribological properties of the PPS composites filled with both the PTFE and the bentonite are further improved. The lowest wear rate are found in the case of the PPS+15%PTFE +5% bentonite composite,0.69×10-6 mm3/Nm.The friction coefficient is about 0.15.
